13th of October - Feast of the Deceased Benefactors of the Augustinian Order

Every year, on the 13th of October, Augustinians throughout the world focus their prayers on our deceased benefactors.

The word benefactor has its roots in the Latin language and it means someone who does something good for you. Some of our benefactors have made financial contributions to the work of the Order; some have joined with us in various projects both in our home provinces and on our foreign missions. The vast majority of our benefactors are the people who pray with us and for us; the people who attend our churches; the people who are willing to help out in the day to day things.

Today's feast day is an important one for us as it creates a special space in which we recall all the very many people who have supported us - in big ways and in small ways, but always important ways - in our attempts to spread the message of the Lord.

One of the most important things I ever learned was that it is always good to say thank you - Today's feast is about saying thank you.
