Today is the feast of St Therese of Lisieux, "The Little Flower".
This enclosed Carmelite nun was named as the Patron Saint of the Missions by Pope Pius XI. John Paul II proclaimed her a Doctor of the Church.
The Irish Province of Augustinians has a very strong missionary tradition. In fact, our Province is responsible for the founding of the North American Provinces and also the Australian Province. Members of the Irish Province are also responsible for the refounding of the Anglo-Scottish Province (UK).
Members of the Irish Province continue to work in Nigeria, Kenya, Ecuador, Great Britain, Canada and Australia. We are also responsible for the Irish National Church in Rome, Italy.
October is traditionally a month associated with the Foreign Missions - Please remember to pray for our missionaries during this month.
Why not pick up your pen (or keyboard) and write to one of our missionaries - a message from home is always worth a lot when you are far away.
Maybe you or your group would like to offer some support to one of our missionaries. If you would like more information on this suggestion or on anything to do with our missions please just send an email.
