AYE 2010

As already mentioned the International Youth Meeting will be held in London next year. It will be held in a large centre located to the north of London called Spec Centre which is the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Westminster Diocese. This is shorthand for "speculum vitae" (latin) which means "mirror of life". This title hints at what the centre is all about - it is a place where people go to look at their lives, their relationships with God and with others and also a place where we can see in others the gifts that God has given us. We are all created in the image of God and we need one another to have a more complete vision of God.

The International Youth Commission, the Local Preparatory Team (and myself) met in London recently and visited the centre which is a large building on the site where St. Alban was arrested before his martyrdom by Roman soldiers in the third century.

The images here show the logo for the meeting, the site of the meeting, a picture of St Alban and a picture of the international commission during its visit to Spec Centre last month. Not all of the International Commission were in attendance. In the picture you can see Tony from Australia, Francesco from Italy, Jose Maria from Spain. Also pictured are the members of the Local Preparatory Team who are all from the United Kingdom - they are Gianni, George, Michela, Clare, Bernard and David. Also pictured is Rommel from the General Council.

Remember that it seems that Ireland will be able to bring up to 50 participants so if you are keen to participate and meet other Augustinian Youth from all over the world let me know sooner rather than later. The total cost (including travel, full board, registration etc, is likely to be around 500 euro for the full week)
