New Television Series On St Augustine

Pope shown new “St. Augustine” TV Miniseries
He thanks producers and hopes it helps people discover truth and charity.
Castel Gandolfo, 05/09/2009

On Wednesday, 2nd September, in Castel Gandolfo, Pope Benedict was shown a condensed version of the new television mini-series on the life of St. Augustine produced by Lux Vide/Rai Fiction, Bayerischer Rundfunk/Tellux Film, Eos Entertainment Rai Trade and Grupa Filmova Baltmedia. The film is directed Christian Duguay.

The Pope judged the film very positively. He said: "From outside, St. Augustine's life seems to end in a tragic way: the world in which he lived came to an end, was destroyed. However… his message has remained and, even in the world's changes, it endures, because it originates from Truth and guides us to Charity, which is our common destiny." “The film”, the Pope continued, “represents the whole reality of human life, with all the problems, sadness, failures and, moreover, the fact that, at the end, Truth is stronger than any obstacle and finds the human person. This is the great hope that remains at the end: we are unable to find Truth by ourselves, but Truth, who is a Person, finds us.”
